Project Overview

Extensive external refurbishment and repair to an occupied residential apartment block adjacent to the Embassy of Angola. A scaffold with a designed gantry structure and a 24-hour monitored alarm system was erected to all elevations, from which the full external works proceeded — brick cleaning, repointing, concrete repairs, rendering and cill replacement — alongside major repairs to the fire escape staircase and roofing detail repairs.

Works included:

• Scaffold to all elevations including a designed gantry structure

• Installation of a 24-hour monitored alarm system

• Full external elevation works including brick cleaning, repointing, concrete repairs, rendering and cill replacements

• Major fire escape staircase repairs

• Decorations to stonework, timber, railings, rainwater pipes and staircase

• Timber repairs to window frames and cills

• Rebuilding brickwork of high-level balconies

• Roofing detail repairs

Approach / Key Challenges

The apartment block remained occupied and adjacent to the Embassy of Angola throughout the works. A designed gantry scaffold with a monitored 24-hour alarm system allowed the full elevation, staircase and roofing repairs to proceed safely around residents and the neighbouring embassy.
